| 13.30 | Welcome to F1-Live.com and live coverage of the 66-lap Spanish Grand Prix from sunny Barcelona. The race gets underway in 30 minutes. |
| 13.31 | The drivers are leaving the pits now and heading to the grid. |
| 13.32 | Championship leader Kimi Raikkonen starts from pole position in his Ferrari and has looked the man to beat after setting the pace in both Friday practice sessions and of course in qualifying. Team-mate Felipe Massa starts third and has looked fast too, but admits he did not get the perfect lap in qualifying. Massa remains a threat. |
| 13.34 | Fernando Alonso starts on the front row of the grid in his Renault, a massive upturn in pace for this weekend’s Grand Prix. It was a superb lap from the former champion, but even the team admit that Alonso is perhaps using a little strategy to gain the grid position. Alonso himself is playing down the position but we all know how hard Alonso can race, especially in Barcelona. |
| 13.36 | Robert Kubica starts fourth in his BMW Sauber and has been on the pace all weekend. Another podium is his aim while Nick Heidfeld will be aiming for a clean fast start to make up ground after qualifying in ninth position in the second F1.08. Heidfeld is always there at the chequered flag and the team are looking to retain the lead in the championship. |
| 13.38 | McLaren Mercedes has not looked on top form again this weekend. The car just does not look particularly well balanced. Still Hamilton and Kovalainen line up fifth and sixth and will be looking to take advantage of any errors ahead of them on the grid. On the positive, Hamilton looked fast on the harder tyre. |
| 13.40 | Mark Webber starts seventh in his Red Bull Renault and will be targeting points while team-mate Coulthard will simply be looking for a clean race from 17th on the grid. |
| 13.42 | Jarno Trulli starts eighth in the leading Toyota ahead of Heidfeld and Nelson Piquet who has made it into the top ten for the first time in his Renault. The young Brazilian will be aiming to score his first points in the series. |
| 13.44 | Honda has Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button starting 11th and 13th and admit that they got all the pace they could out of the package. It is a similar situation at Williams Toyota with Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg as they line up 12th and 15th, the latter behind the second Toyota of Timo Glock. |
| 13.46 | Sebastien Bourdais has had a good weekend for Toro Rosso and starts 16th ahead of Coulthard while Sebastian Vettel has not looked as strong and starts 18th. |
| 13.48 | Towards the back and Giancarlo Fisichella starts 19th and was a full seven-tenths faster than Force India team-mate Arian Sutil in qualifying. Anthony Davidson starts 21st ahead of Super Aguri team-mate Takuma Sato. |
| 13.50 | As has been the case on Friday and Saturday, it is another sunny day at Circuit de Catalunya. |
| 13.52 | Bridgestone are expecting some to start the race on the softer option tyre, and some to start on the harder prime tyre. Traditionally those running lighter on fuel at the front will use the option and those fuelled foe a long first stint will take the harder prime. This is generally a two-stop race. |
| 13.54 | Some say Formula One can be predictable. Qualifying on the pole and winning in Spain certainly is and you’d have to look back to the 2000 season to find a winner (Mika Hakkinen) who would win this race not from the pole position. Should Raikkonen win today, that would make it eighth straight years of the pole sitter winning in Barcelona. |
| 13.56 | As ever, there is a big crowd on hand in Spain to cheer on fan-favourite Fernando Alonso who is probably starting with a lighter fuel load on board than those around him, but by how much? |
| 13.58 | The drivers are all in the car as the countdown to the start continues. |
| 13.59 | The engines are now running and the dummy grid is being cleared. Soft tyres for Raikkonen. |
| 13.59 | All on soft tyres it seems. |
| 14.00 | Kimi Raikkonen leads the field away from the dummy grid to start the parade lap. |
| 14.02 | Raikkonen lines up on his pole position with Alonso, Massa, Kubica, Hamilton, Kovalainen, Webber and the rest taking up positions. |
| Lap 1 | The Spanish Grand Prix is now underway. |
| Lap 1 | Massa moves second into turn one. |
| Lap 1 | One of the force india rams another car. |
| Lap 1 | Raikkonen leads Massa, Alonso, Hamilton, Kubica, Kovalainen and Heidfeld. |
| Lap 1 | The safety car is out. |
| Lap 2 | It was Sutil ramming into the side of Coulthard. Vettel then made contact with the spinning Sutil. Poor driving from Sutil. |
| Lap 2 | The s/c remains on track. Raikkonen leads Massa, Alonso, Hamilton, Kubica, Kovalainen, Heidfeld, Webber, Trulli and Piquet. Rosberg has made up ground and runs 11th ahead of Barrichello. |
| Lap 3 | Nakajima is 14th ahead of Fisichella, Coulthard who is lucky not to have damage to the right hand side of his Red Bull. Glock is down in 17th ahead of Bourdais, Davidson and Sato. |
| Lap 4 | The race is back underway. |
| Lap 4 | A clean restart as they go single file into turn one. |
| Lap 5 | A good lap from Raikkonen who pulls over a second from Massa. |
| Lap 6 | Piquet has gone off track. He was in tenth position but he is in the gravel. He rejoins the pack way down. |
| Lap 7 | Raikkonen is continuing to pull away from Massa with Alonso in third and Hamilton close behind. Hamilton gained the position over Kubica on the run into turn one at the start. |
| Lap 8 | Piquet is off again. Oh dear. Yes, he dived down the inside of Bourdais and they made contact. It was a late lunge. |
| Lap 8 | Bourdais is pitting the Toro Rosso but he had a lot of damage to the left front suspension. |
| Lap 8 | Piquet continues looking for a new victim. |
| Lap 9 | Davidson now pits his Super Aguri and is retiring. |
| Lap 10 | Piquet did not continue actually, well not for long. He is out of the race and a poor race from the rookie. |
| Lap 11 | No changes at the front as Raikkonen leads Massa by three seconds with Alonso another couple of second back. |
| Lap 11 | So a bad race for Toro Rosso with both Vettel and Bourdais out already. Sutil and Davidson also already out. |
| Lap 13 | Raikkonen is pushing to extend the gap to Massa agead of the first stops. |
| Lap 14 | Massa is putting a lot of lock on the car through the turns at the start of the lap indicating he may have an understeer issue. |
| Lap 15 | Hamilton remains less than a second behind Alonso, but the car looks hard work. |
| Lap 16 | Alonso is now eight seconds behind Raikkonen. |
| Lap 17 | Alonso pits for the first time. He was in third position. |
| Lap 17 | A normal stop so he is on two stops overall. He exits behind Barrichello and that may be costly as the Honda racer will be on a long first stint. |
| Lap 18 | Barrichello runs in tenth position and is lapping nearly two seconds a lap slower than the front runners. |
| Lap 19 | With Alonso having pitted early, Hamilton now runs third. |
| Lap 20 | Massa pits from second. He was 4s behind Raikkonen. |
| Lap 20 | Massa exits behind Trulli in P8 |
| Lap 21 | Raikkonen pits from the lead. |
| Lap 21 | Webber and Trulli also pit. |
| Lap 22 | Hamilton pits from the lead. Kubica pits right behind as well. |
| Lap 22 | A McLaren is off and into the tyres. |
| Lap 22 | The McLaren is straight into the tyres and burried in the tyres. |
| Lap 23 | That is a car failure and a heavy shunt for Kovalainen. Rosberg pits. |
| Lap 23 | The s/c is out. |
| Lap 23 | Kovalainen was the leader as the others had pitted and that looked like acr failure as the car failed to turn and nosed at almost full speed into the tyres. |
| Lap 24 | The pit lane is closed and that may be an issue for those yet to stop. |
| Lap 25 | Heidfeld has to pit. A shame for him as he will get a penalty. Stupid rule. |
| Lap 25 | Raikkonen leads Massa, Hamilton, Kubica, Barrichello, Alonso, Button, Nakajima and Fisichella. |
| Lap 25 | The pit lane is now open. |
| Lap 26 | Barrichello. Button, Nakajima, Fisichella, Coulthard and Glock pit. |
| Lap 26 | Barrichello has just pitted and now has a smashed front wing. Not sure how that has happened. |
| Lap 26 | Barrichello is making his way slowly back to the pits. he left the pit with a broken wing after making contact with something in his own pit. |
| Lap 27 | The s/c still on track. |
| Lap 27 | Barrichello pits having let cars through on his slow in lap. A new wing and extra fuel as Kovalainen's smashed McLaren is being removed. A big hole in the front of the car. |
| Lap 27 | Kovalainen is out of the car. It seems it was a front left brake or wheel failure. |
| Lap 28 | The s/c is on track still. Alonso's early stop has hurt him being stuck behind Barrichello. He has dropped behind Hamilton and the BMW Sauber duo. |
| Lap 28 | Barrichello now runs at the back following his font wing problem. |
| Lap 29 | The race is back on. |
| Lap 29 | Raikkonen retains the lead from Massa and the rest. |
| Lap 29 | Heidfeld runs fifth but will have to take a penalty. |
| Lap 30 | This is the middle stint and the front runners have the softer option tyre on again. |
| Lap 31 | Heidfeld may as well pull of and retire. This 10 second stop and go will ruin his race through no fault of his own. |
| Lap 32 | Rosberg runs in ninth and is chasing Jarno Trulli just as he was in Bahrain. |
| Lap 34 | Heidfeld makes his pit stop for the penalty. He was fifth. |
| Lap 34 | Heidfeld exits flat last by a long way. |
| Lap 35 | Raikkonen is pulling away with ease. |
| Lap 35 | Alonso slows with a problem. He pulls the R28 off with smoke and flames coming from the back of the Renault. He was fifth. |
| Lap 36 | That was an engine failure for Alonso. Shame for Renault but an encouraging race anyway. |
| Lap 36 | Barrichello has pitted and retired from the back of the field. |
| Lap 38 | Hamilton is keeping Massa in touch. |
| Lap 39 | Only 14 runners remain as Sato pits from ninth. |
| Lap 39 | Sato takes the hard tyre for the final stint. The rest will do the same when they make their second stop. |
| Lap 41 | Raikkonen is holding the gap to Massa at just under four seconds while Hamilton is keeping Massa in his view. |
| Lap 42 | The top four are all lapping within a few tenths of each other. |
| Lap 42 | Rosberg pulls off with a big engine failure. He was in seventh position and he was having a good race. |
| Lap 43 | Heidfeld now runs in 12th and is closing in fast on Glock who has had no pace today in the second Toyota. Team-mate Trulli is sixth. |
| Lap 44 | Fisichella runs in eighth position in his Force India Ferrari and has Button close behind. |
| Lap 45 | Fisichella pits from eighth position. |
| Lap 46 | Massa has dealt with the Hamilton threat and pulled clear. |
| Lap 46 | Heidfeld takes his third stop. |
| Lap 47 | Massa pits his Ferrari from second. |
| Lap 47 | Webber and Trulli pit as well. |
| Lap 48 | Raikkonen pits from the lead. Hamilton and Kubica also pit. |
| Lap 48 | No change as Raikkonen exits ahead of Massa, Hamilton and Kubica. |
| Lap 49 | Heidfeld is looking to pass Fisichella for position. The Italian is defending well. |
| Lap 49 | Reports are saying that Kovalainen is largely uninjured and is being flown to hospital for futher evaluation. |
| Lap 50 | Fisichella continues to hold off Heidfeld. This could be for a point when the others pit. |
| Lap 52 | Nakajima pits his Williams Toyota. |
| Lap 52 | Glock also in the pits. |
| Lap 52 | Webber and Coulthard run together on track for Red Bull. Given their starting positions that is quite a feat. |
| Lap 53 | Coulthard is in the pits now though, so that's the end of that. Button has yet to make his second stop. |
| Lap 54 | Trulli pits his Toyota. |
| Lap 54 | Glock is also in again. He must have a problem, yes he does Glock is taking a new front wing why Coulthard is struggling with a left rear pucture. Contact between the two there. |
| Lap 55 | Button pits from fifth position. |
| Lap 55 | Heidfeld makes the pass and is now ahead of Fisichella. Coulthard pits with a deflated left rear. |
| Lap 56 | With the stops complete, Trulli is in eighth position behind Nakajima, Button, Webber, Kubica, Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen. |
| Lap 58 | Nothing much happening at the front of the field although Hamilton has kept Massa close, perhaps as the Ferrari duo have backed off somewhat. |
| Lap 60 | As Raikkonen looks to control the pace and is slowing near the end, the top four are all closing on on each other. |
| Lap 60 | Coulthard has caught Sato and looking to make a pass. |
| Lap 61 | Hamilton is third and remains less than two seconds behind Massa. |
| Lap 62 | Sato has a big hole in the front of the Aguri nose. He is defending to try and keep Coulthard behind. |
| Lap 63 | Coulthard finally finds a way ahead of Sato. |
| Lap 64 | It is a bit of a high speed parade at the front with little happening even if they are running fairly closely. |
| Lap 66 | The chequered flag is out and Kimi Raikkonen wins the Spanish Grand Prix. |
| Lap 66 | Massa finishes second ahead of Hamilton, Kubica, Webber, Button, Nakajima and Trulli. |
| Lap 66 | Heidfeld is out of the points in ninth ahead of Fisichella, Slock, Coulthard and Sato. |
